Full-text search
Cachd doesn’t just match against titles and URLs. When you save a page, Cachd indexes the full text of the content — the body copy, headings, captions, pull quotes, and any notes you’ve added yourself. That means you can search for a phrase you remember reading inside an article, even if you’ve completely forgotten the title or where it came from. Full-text search covers:- Page titles and URLs — the standard baseline
- Body content — the actual text of saved articles, posts, and pages
- Captions and metadata — descriptions, subtitles, and author names
- Your own notes — anything you’ve annotated on a save
OCR search
Cachd goes a step further for saved images. Using optical character recognition (OCR), Cachd reads the text visible inside every image you save — screenshots, infographics, photos of whiteboards, social media captures, and more — and makes that text fully searchable. This means if you screenshot a tweet, a design mockup with labels, or a photo of handwritten notes, you can find it later by searching for any word that appears in the image itself. You never have to remember to write a description or add a tag at save time.OCR indexing runs automatically after every import — it typically completes within seconds for most images. For large batch imports, indexing may take a minute or two before image content becomes searchable.
Using the command menu
For the fastest possible search experience, skip the search bar and reach for the command menu. PressCmd K on Mac or Ctrl K on Windows and Linux from anywhere in Cachd to open it instantly.
Inside the command menu you can:
- Search your full Library by keyword — results appear as you type
- Filter by content type — narrow to articles, videos, images, or links
- Filter by date — surface saves from this week, this month, or a custom range
- Jump to a collection — navigate directly to any Smart Collection or manual collection by name
- Trigger actions — create a new collection, open settings, or export without navigating away from your current view
Search tips
Searching by source
Searching by source
You can filter search results to a specific type of source — social media posts, videos, browser bookmarks, and more. In the search bar, use the Source filter dropdown to select a platform or source type before or after entering your query. This is useful when you know you saved something from a particular site but can’t remember the exact content.
Searching within a specific collection
Searching within a specific collection
To search inside a single collection rather than your entire Library, open that collection first and then use the search bar. Your query will be scoped automatically to the saves within that collection. You can also use the command menu and select a collection as a filter before typing your keyword.
Using quotes for exact phrase matching
Using quotes for exact phrase matching
Wrap your search query in quotation marks to match an exact phrase rather than individual keywords. For example, searching
"content strategy" will return only saves that contain that exact two-word phrase, filtering out results that mention “content” and “strategy” separately. This is especially useful when searching for specific titles, names, or technical terms.
